The Minnesota Association for Justice Elects New President – Charles D. Slane

Charles D. Slane becomes 68th President of the Minnesota Association for Justice

 

Brainerd, Minnesota - Twin Cities attorney Charles “Chuck” Slane was elected president of the Minnesota Association for Justice (MAJ) at the association’s annual convention on August 19, 2022, in Brainerd.

Mr. Slane is a partner at the TSR Injury Law Firm. Mr. Slane has a reputation as a lawyer that loves trying cases before a jury. Law Partner Steve Terry said “What makes Mr. Slane a great lawyer is his ability to listen and understand his clients. The only way that a lawyer can do a good job of representing a client in the courtroom is to listen to the client and understand what they have gone through. It is that experience that allows the story to be properly told, and that is what Chuck Slane is all about.”

The theme of Mr. Slane’s presidency is  “storytelling to transform”. Mr. Slane assumes the Presidency of MAJ at a time that finds the practice of law transformed by a global pandemic. As we continue to emerge from the pandemic and in-person trial practice resumes, MAJ members and their clients look to forward to Mr. Slane’s hands-on trial experience and leadership as we evolve the work of our professional association.

MAJ’s core mission is to protect every Minnesotan’s constitutional right to a trial by jury, and every citizen’s right to redress for harms caused by the wrongful acts of others. According to Slane, “The global pandemic has transformed every aspect of our lives. We continue to feel the impact every day and will likely see the effects for years to come. In our law practice we have seen a transformation in the use of technology to assist in the administration of justice. But there is one thing the pandemic did not change: the need for ordinary citizens harmed through the wrongful acts of others to assert their legal rights. I intend to use my presidency of this association to maintain these legal right - at the Capitol and in the courtroom”  

Slane went to law school at William Mitchell College of Law graduating in 1996. He then began his practice at the firm of Meshbesher, Birrell and Dunlap where he honed his skills as a personal injury lawyer and advocate. He is currently a partner at TSR where he is the head of the litigation department. Chuck is licensed to practice law in Minnesota and Wisconsin. He is a board-certified civil trial advocate, certified by the Minnesota State Bar Association. He is a member of ABOTA. He has been recognized as a Super Lawyer by his peers. Chuck is on the Board of Governors for the Minnesota Association for Justice and is currently on the leadership track.

Slane lives in Edina with his wife and two French bulldogs. In his off time, he enjoys fishing, movies, music and rooting for the Packers. Chuck’s other passion is powerlifting, and he has used this passion to support the community.

He helps coach the Special Olympics powerlifting team and sponsors Relentless, a powerlifting meet supporting Hope kids.
