Summary

Program Description:

The explosive growth of the gig economy has created unique and often misunderstood challenges for Minnesota personal injury practitioners. Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, Uber Eats, Amazon Flex, and similar platforms operate under layered insurance schemes, shifting coverage triggers, and worker classifications that can dramatically affect an injured driver’s ability to recover compensation.

This program provides Minnesota attorneys with a practical, step-by-step framework for handling injury claims involving gig economy drivers. Attendees will learn how to identify applicable insurance coverage based on driver status (offline, available, or actively engaged), navigate Minnesota No-Fault and UIM/UM issues, and spot common coverage gaps and exclusions unique to Transportation Network Companies (TNCs) and delivery platforms. The course will also address third-party liability, employer-style defenses raised by platform companies, and emerging trends in litigation and claims handling involving app-based work.

Whether your client is an Uber driver injured in a crash, a DoorDash driver struck while making a delivery, or an Amazon Flex driver hurt on the job, this program equips you with the tools to evaluate liability, preserve coverage, and maximize recovery in an evolving legal landscape.
