Minnesota Association for Justice members donate funds to stock the shelves at Sabathani

The Minnesota Association for Justice has collected $3,585 for Walker’s Market at the Sabathani Community Center in Minneapolis.

Minnesota Association for Justice President Chris Messerly got the idea to donate to Walker’s Market when he saw its empty shelves earlier this summer when he was at the Community Center delivering bike helmets donated by his organization’s members.

Jury rejects insurance company’s effort to place low value on boys’ lives

Insurance company offers $10,000, jury awards $1.57 million

A Hennepin County jury has awarded $1.57 million to a father who lost two sons in a car accident. Originally offered $5,000 by Progressive Insurance for the life of each son, Charles Dack, of Mora, took his case to a jury that agreed that the offer was unacceptable.

American International Group's alleged actions make case for insurance reform



This month the Minnesota Workers' Compensation Reinsurance Association and the Minnesota Workers' Compensation Insurers Association filed a federal suit stating that American International Group (AIG), the world's biggest insurer, has shortchanged the nonprofit groups for 22 years. The two groups are seeking more than $100 million in damages for alleged underpayment of premiums.

Legislation introduced to update state’s ‘no fault’ system

 

Consumers pay for No-Fault auto insurance, yet laws regulating their benefits have not been kept up to date. State Senator Mary Olson (DFL-Bemidji) and State Representative Joe Atkins (DFL-Inver Grove Heights) are introducing legislation to bring fairness back into the No-Fault system.
